Let me start right off by saying that my brother, Dennis, is a jack-of-all-trades and a master of every one of them. He is quiet and most humble so this would not be apparent to the casual observer but it is important to know in order to understand the survival and success of Buch Spieler which would not be without him.
Dennis graduated from Goddard College in 1975 and, like me, wanted to stay in Central Vermont. He is extraordinarily talented at many things but at the time he was doing metal sculpture, repairing old Saab cars and building a 20 by 24-foot cabin with me in the woods of Marshfield, Vermont. Together, we were planting roots that would keep us here to this day.
Buch Spieler was by now supporting me but just barely. My savings account had been depleted, I'd borrowed heavily against my life insurance policy and it was becoming apparent that an artist/musician/anti-capitalist/utopian/dreamer had no business swimming in the turbulent waters of cash flow management, alone, without a buddy.
Dennis came on-board shortly thereafter and saved my ass.
To this day, in 1999, Dennis is the behind-the-scenes mastermind of all things technical that keeps Buch Spieler alive - our computerized point-of-sale system and www.bsmusic.com are only two of the many things he does for Buch Spieler that most people know nothing about. When the staff in the store has any kind of a technical problem, we call Dennis and hope we can find him. These days, he is a very busy man programming the computerized mechanics of hydro dams around Vermont and northern New England when he is not painting nudes and portraits.
Dennis has allowed us to keep pace with all things digitized and wired and does it in such a way that makes even the Luddites among us curious.
